Nick de la Hoyde – “Love Takes Time”

Sydney, Australia based singer/songwriter/rapper Nick de la Hoyde begun expressing himself through music when he was 16 and pursuing a professional, football career in Barcelona. Music quickly became an outlet through which Nick could express the frustrations that come with chasing your dreams and the result was a unique and deeply personal insight into youth, dreams and determination. Growing up in a multi-cultural home with a Syrian mother and British father, Nick was exposed to many global influences which he weaved into his music melding sounds of hip hop, rock, alternative, R&B and spoken word, together with introspective lyrics that read like personal journal entries. Nick and his long-time producer/collaborator/older brother Joseph (ZUZU) de la Hoyde, have crafted a sound that is simultaneously intimate, expansive and engaging. Now at 22, Nick has penned confessional, real life anthems such as Thinking Bout You, Never Gonna Beg For It, By My Side and Changing, that take you on a free-spirited, hypnotic and sometimes soulful sonic journey to find the path forward. Nick’s newest installment ‘Love Takes Time’ is a sultry electronic track that bends the line between pop and future, showcasing Nick’s evolution into a very capable pop artist. In the lyric, Nick’s yearning for love turns into the realization that love truly does takes time and can’t be forced. Nick’s delicate falsetto sits upon a bed of mallets before crescendoing to an intense swelling of synth and percussion in the choruses.

The official music video to Love Takes Time was directed by Bruno Kataoka and recently premiered on Billboard online magazine. Nick’s music videos have all enjoyed success and have attracted over 1 million views on his YouTube channel.  Video premiers have included MTV for ‘ Never Gonna Beg For It’ and Channel V for ‘Changing’ and ‘Love Takes Time’, whilst ‘By My Side’ won the mtvU Freshman competition where Nick competed along side fellow Australian Troy Sivan.

Upon release, Love Takes Time received immediate adds to Australia’s biggest networks – Southern Cross Austereo and Nova national for nights, as well adds to KIIS FM’s show ‘Planet OZ’ and Kyle & Jackie O’s syndicated radio show ‘The A-List’. Aside from the airplay, Nick has also performed live acoustic shows in studio for the likes of NOVA, 2DAYFM, FOXFM, HIT105 and recently did a 2 hour co host with Byron Cooke on his highly acclaimed show The Hit AU. Previous songs by Nick have also seen support by all the major networks, in Australia.

Nick’s music has charted on USA’s Billboard BDS Top 40 Indicator and Mediabase Top 100, Shazam (AU) Furture Hits (#6) and Australian Top 100.

Nick continues to cultivate his ever-growing social media following with strong numbers across his key platforms, most notably Instagram which now boasts 360K active followers and Facebook where his following jumped to 160k. Nick continues to focus on his social media through consistently engaging with through a consistent flow of unique, self-produced content.
