Laura Promiscuo – “Here In The Dark”

Every Now and again you find an artist that’s truly in love and wholly dedicated their art. Devoting most waking hours perfecting their craft, and living the troubadour life style of showing their art off to any and all who will listen. This is Laura Promiscuo.

Ms. Laura Promiscuo is an award-winning vocalist, with a warmth and soulful depth in her tone that turns every head when she begins to sing. Currently Laura is releasing her debut pop album, Chasing Down the Dream with Grammy winning producer, Tim Sonnefeld and Milkboy Records on October 4, 2014.

Chasing Down The Dream features eight of Laura’s original songs with soul, folk and classical influences. Two major influences on her musical style is her upbringing in music as a viola player in string orchestras, as well as over 10 years of a disciplined yoga practice, accompanied by a deep fascination with theological and philosophical thought. There are undoubtedly elements of world music influences in several of her tunes, including “Closer To You,” “Water Is Wide” and “Stranger.” Her typical encore song, “Sweet Lovin Boy” is a stripped down performance of her intimate vocals and a freestyle piano accompaniment.

Miss Promiscuo is a classically trained vocalist in opera and studied under internationally known artists including tenor, Richard Kennedy, and Arlene Shrut, head vocal coach at The Julliard School. In the past several years, she has performed her original music at notable venues including The World Cafe Live, The Legendary Dobbs and The Wilma Theatre in Philadelphia, the Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State University, and The Bitter End in New York City. In addition to live performances, her voice is featured on several studio albums and a self-produced album of holiday songs entitled A Vintage Christmas, re-releasing this upcoming 2014 holiday season.

Before becoming a solo act, Laura fronted the Washington D.C.-based original rock band, Soul Kitchen Collective, which was founded upon Laura’s deep-rooted love for the band, The Doors.
