Born and raised in the city of Plainfield, NJ, Carl was 12 years old when his dad came home with a 100 year old green upright piano. Since then Carl not only writes, but performs his songs with passion and energy that audiences connect with in a powerfully unforgettable way.

As a philanthropist, Carl Brister has been a long-time supporter of HIV/AIDS outreach, The Young Father’s program of NJ, African Hunger Relief, and educational outreach for students in urban schools. As a survivor of a tragic incident of sexual abuse at the age of 5 years old, Carl Brister also uses his voice to uplift others as a spokes person for New Jersey’s Child Assault Prevention (NJCAP) organization. His acclaimed single/video “I’m Still Here” addresses the issue of sexual abuse and how he has turned tragedy to triumph.

On April 17th, 2015 Carl released his next single “Uncomplicated Love” from his forth-coming EP. This soulful R&B smash-in-the-making turns up the heat on love and relationships. The single defines Carl Brister’s signature sound of retro-R&B with Pop overtones set to lyrics that touch the heart.
