The Trip
Three guys, a band: a dream against the odds.
Determined to do things their own way, they self-funded a long sojourn in the US to record and produce their debut album, working alongside some of America’s best-known and most experienced producers.
Living in California, the guys became immersed in a rapidly growing music scene in the South Bay area of LA, where some of the country’s top musicians hang out and come together to jam. Utilising some of the local talent, they played shows and turned heads with their high-energy approach and new songs in development, culminating in a surprise Monday night sold-out show at Hollywood ‘s legendary Viper Room.
They returned home with some invaluable experiences and memories, some new overseas fans, and an album under their belt. But still, always searching to improve and innovate, they hadn’t found quite the vibrant and totally unique sound they were hoping for. Then, like the Alchemist who travels the world looking for something that’s in his own backyard, they made the final connection: Mike Sinclair, a young producer brimming with fresh, raw enthusiasm and talent, just like the guys themselves.
And so a new chapter of the journey began, as the guys faced the decision; stick with what they had, or throw caution to the wind, grab life by the horns, and start all over again.
The album was completely re-recorded with musical genius Mike in Adelaide. What at the time had seemed madness now made perfect sense, and the guys had found the sound inspired by a priceless three-year musical journey – a keen-edged fusion of danceable electronic funky rock, catchy hooks and melodies that please the ear and make the feet want to start moving.
The Trip have now pushed their fondness of a well known leisure activity to new levels with their film clip for their debut single On The First Time, thanks to the vision of director Nicholas Livingston, as showcased on their EP The Trip Volume I released on 1st April ’11 through MGM distribution.
These days The Trip are as comfortable playing their ‘DJ JAMiN’ assisted live show on large festival stages as they are in intimate music venues all over Australia, and generating an underground buzz surrounding the mystery, who are The Trip?
The Trip want you respond to one thing only: the way their songs make you feel.
The journey is over.. But The Trip has only just begun
