JUPITER 7 (simply meaning: growing into completion) is a Bay Area Emcee striving to preserve the sanctity of hip-hop with an eclectic blend of soulful break beats and golden-era lryicism. Backed with an impressive live show, his passion and continuous grind shows love for the art and culture at large. J7 put his mark on the underground scene in early 2006 with his first full length release IDENTIFY. This garnered him a growing fan-base and unique sound completely his own. His song “Hello World” was featured on DJ Lace’s Positive Mix Tape Vol. 1, while “Life” and “War” were featured on Ghetto Groove Records Vol. 1. Since then, he’s been featured on several other compilations albums, magazine reviews, and nationally recognized webs. His next indie release THE 2ND STORY EXPERIMENT EP (2008), was well received in the local scene due to its authentic sound and honest commentary. The featured track, “Slow Down” received an honorable mention for being among the Top 500 for the 16th annual Billboard World Song Contest. The next album ROCKSTEADY (2009) served as a tribute to hip-hop culture as well as expanding J7′s emerging style and production. The mission is to be a voice of reason and clarity for today’s people. In reflection J7 states, “Hip-hop has been hijacked and needs to be brought back under control… In a world with real problems such as social issues, financial breakdowns, and a declining moral status, there’s no more room for lowering the bar. I intend to raise it, live it, and possibly inspire people along the way.” With a knack for mixing metaphors, spiritual undertones, and blank face humor in most of his lryics, it’s obvious that there are no gimmicks involved. J7 currently has songs out on Syntax Records: Night Owl 5 – Bird Flu and End of Earth Records: To The Ends of the Earth Vol. 5. Jupiter 7 has also released an anthem track “We Got Soul” in connection with Soulciety.org, a local non-profit organization that strives to keep performing arts in schools and teach the arts overseas. Now with a new album MISTAPOOL & JUPITER 7 (2010) just released, J7 continues to establish high rank with his signature voice and spearheaded by production from Belarus, Russia. With honest transparency and in-your-face rhyme style, Jupiter 7 is living proof that hip-hop is alive and well.
