Although only 21, Alex Young is no stranger to the music scene, getting her start in the cast of Sesame Street at ages 6 & 7. She made her professional singing debut at age 14 on New York’s top radio station Z-100. Thanks in part to her devoted following of MySpace & Facebook friends, her single Cold, off her acclaimed debut album Amazing, built a steady buzz across the country and 2nd single,Heart Stop quickly followed suit. NEW YORK (October 2010) – Emerging Pop sensation Alex Young builds on the success of her hit song COLD from her debut album Amazing, released last summer exclusively through Walmart and on iTunes, with the launch of two new singles and a brand new stage show for the Fall.
Alex Young’s lead new single, “Government Name”, will have you handcuffed to the dance floor and your finger on REPLAY! Written by Stevie Wonder’s daughter, Takiyha Mathis, has an edgier sound and is a bass heavy club smash produced by Bojan-B, and features rapper Don P. On the track, Alex seduces the beat, trading barbs with an advancing lover. Following “Government Name,” Alex will unleash “Light Refraction,” an up-tempo, futuristic dance anthem.
Alex Young continues her work with A-list producers and writers and attracts the attention and praise of industry heavyweights. In crafting her debut album, Amazing, Alex worked with multi-platinum producer Amadeus Thompson (Trey Songz, 50 Cent, Danity Kane, Lil Wayne), two-time Grammy nominee Phillip “Taj” Jackson (Rihanna, Janet Jackson), to Jonas Jeberg & Cutfather (Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue, Jordin Sparks), resulting in an acclaimed amalgam of pop, R&B, funk and dance.
Alex recently has also emerged as a fashion pioneer captivating photographers at premiers, album releases and fashion week events, including being listed among the Top Ten Best Dressed hipsters during New York’s Fashion Week.
